News & Reviews Well into 2010 now and after an uncomfortable beginning to the new decade (four weeks of suffering frozen water-feed pipes to our glasscutting equipment & the temporary workshop relocation) ~ we're on the way to a fantastic new future!!! We're almost there in the new workshop! What was supposedly ten days of non-production whilst we completed our move back into our 'home' has actually taken almost a month....and we're still not 100% settled. All slide production has now resumed (with more equipment for us to use!) and orders are now flying out all over the globe! Look out for a brand-new workshop tour when we officially open to the public again (scheduled for August 27th) Many thanks for your understanding during this hectic time We're honored to welcome three of the finest acoustic guitarists in the world to our 'Signature Series' slide range, featuring their very own glass slide choices ~ Kenny Sultan; Adrian Legg & Matthew Fox. Every serious acoustic blues / slide guitarist will know Kenny ~ renowned guitar teacher, Martin Guitars and National Reso-Phonic Guitars clinician & one half of the famous ragtime / blues duo Kenny Sultan & Tom Ball. Kenny is a long-time endorser of Diamond Bottlenecks, using his custom heavyweight lead crystal Cranberry Red 'Ultimate' on every show & clinic during the past five years ~ Kenny's 'Signature Series' slide is a reworking of his faithful 'workhorse' Ultimate. There are many words written about U.K. fingerstylist Adrian Legg - one thing you can't do is 'pigeon-hole' Adrian to one style ~ he's a master of them all! We welcome Adrian to our long list of endorsers, Adrian choosing a brand-new crystal glass design from our glassblowing team for his 'Signature Series' model. We've known Matthew Fox for several years now ~ a wonderful musician specializing in Americana folk & blues music and an all-round lovely guy. Matthew is also a National Reso-Phonic clinician, touring the U.S. & recording beautiful music....welcome to the team Matt!!! Matt has chosen another incredible new design from our glassblowing team for his 'Signature Series' crystal glass slide - please check out all of these new 'Signature Series' masterpieces on the thumbnails to the left of the page. We also say "Au Revoúr" to Brett - my main-man & partner on the glass working & design section of Diamond Bottlenecks for the last 15 years...he and wife Donna have moved on to a new life, living & working in the French South Central hamlet of Brux ~ we all wish them a very happy & peaceful life in France..... .....and it's a big "Bonjoúr" to Brett ~ and the exciting new 'Diamond Bottlenecks - Europe' workshop outlet!!! Brett & Donna will be up & running in France later this summer making bottlenecks at their new home! Brett has a fully-equipped glass workshop in his on-site barn & will be handling all of the mainland European market for us....a market previously (and sadly) overlooked by us here in the U.K. due to our massive U.K.; U.S.; Japan & Australia commitments. We'll include all of the new 'Diamond Bottlenecks Eu' website & contact info in due course here as Brett & Donna settle into their new home ~ have fun guys!! ..there are as many items i've left out as i've included here due to our awaiting results of current testing from slide guitarists....our new color & pattern designs for our 2010 lead crystal tone-bars ~ including the new 'Flags Of The Nations' crystal tone bar ~ are quite simply stunning examples of the glassblowers art!!!!! Thanks to all for your continued support of Diamond Bottlenecks ~ from Ian & the team - August 2010. We receive many hundreds of testimonials here from delighted customers about our sliding glassware, and we keep them all on our database to add to the growing list on our 'Testimonials' web-page. Occasionally we'll receive a testimonial that is so heartwarming, it makes us realise how much something as simple as an 'Ultimate' glass guitar slide can make a person's quest for guitar tone complete. My thanks go to Steve (Mac) McPeters for his kind permission to replicate his testimonial here in it's entirety... "Okay, it's a nasty Fall day here - rainy, chilly & my butt hurts from the operation & everything. The family, they are all off doin' their things - Will at Julliard where he is studying bass. Charlie off at a percussion workshop and my wife at the Met where she works in Greek & Roman. So i'm at home feelin' crappy. The mail comes. I see Chris carrying this yellow envelope. I think it's stuff from school, Yuk! But no, it was one of the greatest things i have ever received. A piece of art and i know something about that. A piece the craftsman should feel elated about. My slide came!!! I pulled out my Epi, one of the new jazz things with one pickup, full hollow body & started playing, and ring, ring, ring every note. It's just f*****g beautiful. I sat after playing for an hour or so and just looked at it. I'm nobody really, just a schoolteacher who really wanted to be a musician but didn't like the life, but playing with this slide, well i realize that with the right tool or good tools like with paints, i too can play what i hear. This is a beautiful piece Ian. I wish i could shake your hand. It really is nice. It took a moment to get used to it but once i did i was wailing. I was actually pretending i was Peter Green way back. This slide is incredible! Thanks you thank you thank you. And if you ever need anyone over here to stand for your product i would gladly be that person. From just the craft side it is great, balanced and smooth. The fit is right on the money so hitting the notes is so easy. With the girth of it, it is so easy to vibrato on and off a note or slide slowly into one. It is a thing of beauty Mr. McWee, a thing of beauty and thank you...... This fall day turned out to be spectacular. Mac McPeters. .....no, thank you Mac... Our glass slide company is continually expanding wordwide with new stockists, and our product line will have brand-new editions to it's ranges soon ~ please keep checking back often ~ and ~ due to hundreds of requests from customers of our custom-made glass slides we'll be offering the best individually custom-order brass & stainless steel guitar slides in the world from our website in the near future! Several years ago we were offering from a previous website a very limited run of real glass (not Pyrex!) pinky finger sized Pill Bottle Slides ~ these had internal diameters of 17.7mm (11/16"), and a full slide length of 2.7/8" (70mm), giving a flat surface area of 2.1/2" (63mm).....they're now back in quantity!!! These smaller internal diameter Pill Bottle Slides are perfect for lovers of the pill bottle slide, but find the standard internal diameter of store-bought reproduction Pyrex Cor***din Pill Bottle slides quite loose when worn on the pinky ~ ours are real glass too! These old favorites will be added to our website soon, but if in the meantime players are interested in purchasing one we'll be happy to e-mail a picture of this fantastic glass slide! We 'oldies' are adapting to the wonderful world of technology pretty well! We now offer a pre-order photo service whereby we can e-mail you a picture of our currently available custom glass colors or patterns which don't appear on our website. When we receive our hand-blown crystal glass shipments from the glassblowers, there are always some awesome 'one-off' glass colors & patterns in the mix that are not listed as 'stock' colors on the website...if you wish to see the amazing pieces we have to offer, please drop us a line & we'll e-mail you a photo! Most folks with more than a passing interest in glass will know that the finest glass available in the world is created in North-Eastern Italy. Names like 'Murano' Glass are synonymous with world class glassware - so we're delighted to announce our exclusive tie-up with one of Italy's finest glass bottle manufacturers to supply us with the most complete, authentic cobalt blue soda-lime bottles available in the world. These beautiful colored bottles are indeed perfect for authentic bottleneck slides - allowing an internal diameter of 18-19mm with a wall thickness of 5.5mm, a slight outer-wall texture to provide awesome tones on acoustic & resonator guitars and a sidewall profile that slide connossieurs dream of, our 'Blue Diamond' authentic bottleneck is truly a world-class bottleneck slide! For the last four years we've been inundated with requests from lap-slide players to introduce lead-filled Crystal Tone-Bars. Our initial batch of weighted lead crystal glass tubes to make these available very soon are now undergoing rigorous testing from seasoned musicians, so as soon as they pass all of the necessary tests - they'll be offered to you on our website here!
